What changes how often you need it
Where you live. Location makes a big difference. Homes in coastal suburbs like Sumner, Redcliffs and New Brighton cop a steady coating of salt spray, which dries onto glass and needs clearing more regularly. Leafy suburbs such as Fendalton and Merivale deal with pollen, sap and leaf litter. And if you’re near a main road or a building site, road film and dust will show up on your windows far quicker.
Which way your windows face. South-facing and shaded windows tend to collect moss and mould in Christchurch’s damp, especially over winter. Sunny, exposed north-facing glass shows water spots sooner and is more prone to mineral staining if it isn’t cleaned regularly.
